The band ' which consists of Billie Joe, bassist Mike Dirnt, drummer Tré Cool and guitarist Jason White ' have been on a hiatus since Billie Joe's onstage outburst in Las Vegas last month.(Cover) - EN Music - Green Day have cancelled further shows due to lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong's stint in rehab.
It has now been announced that all commitments until March 2013 are on hold, while the band's frontman seeks help for substance abuse.
"Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's wellbeing is our main concern," Mike explained in a statement.
"We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support."
In September, Billie Joe smashed his guitar during a foul-mouthed rant onstage.
Prior to Billy Joe's public breakdown, the band had been promoting three new albums, with the third instalment due out in January 2013.
The band have now brought the release date forward to December 2012, to make up for the disappointment of cancelled shows.
"We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned," Tré said.
"If we couldn't be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing."
