Linkin Park star reveals best prank

Linkin Park star reveals best prank

Linkin-Park-star-reveals-best-prank
Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda has recalled a prank where the band's crew moved hotel furniture into an elevator.
The musician is often travelling with the rest of the group, which means hotel stays for Mike and his band members Chester Bennington, Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn.
The 35-year-old says the rockers and their entourage know how to keep themselves entertained when away from home.
"There was a time when my band and crew - but particularly the crew - had a favourite prank. In the middle of the night they'd remove all the furniture from somebody's room and do one of two things with it," he explained to Kerrang! magazine.
"They'd either put it all in the elevator, so when the doors opened literally everything would be in there, like something out of a cartoon. Or they would wait until one of the guys in the crew got drunk enough, remove all the furniture, and set it up outside the hotel in the exact same positions. They'd move the guy as well, so when he woke up all his furniture was in the same place but there were no walls, and he'd be looking around, wondering what the hell was going on."
Mike has also been guilty of partying a little too hard when away with the band.
He recalled an incident when he managed to lose all the other guys after one too many drinks.
"I managed to lose my entire band in Tokyo once," he laughed.
"We were in this club where they served beer in these tiny little cups and you couldn't keep track of how much you were drinking... I sat down on the kerb, and the next thing I know I'm waking up again at 4am on my own in the back streets of Tokyo."

Simpson to star in comedy based on her life

Simpson to star in comedy based on her life

Simpson-to-star-in-comedy-based-on-her-life
Jessica Simpson is to star in a scripted comedy based on her real life.
The singer, former reality television star and mother-of-one is partnering with America's NBC network for the untitled series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Her father and manager, Joe Simpson, will executive produce alongside Electus' Ben Silverman. Electus produced the singer's US reality television design series Fashion Star.
The company's founder and chairman Ben Silverman confirmed the project on Tuesday, comparing Jessica to comedic legend Lucille Ball.
"We are thrilled to team up with the multitalented Jessica Simpson to bring this new sitcom to life on NBC as she is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops," he told the publication.
"From running a fashion empire to wrangling her public image as a new mom, we see Jessica''s character approach a variety of ''everyday'' circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud."
The series will mark Jessica's second attempt at scripted comedy following a 2004 venture with ABC that never made it to air.
Jessica said she is looking forward to working with Ben and NBC once again, and using her day-to-day life as comedic inspiration.
'I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life - so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we''ll have people laughing!" she proclaimed.
A production schedule has not yet been released.

The Sword

Underworld Camden

The Sword - Underworld Camden -
The Underworld was heaving last Thursday night as Austin metal merchants The Sword brought the Apocryphon tour to the UK.

First off, it has to be said that the place was more packed than I have seen it in a while and I was honestly shocked to see The Sword playing a venue that small. They may be on their fourth album but their rise has been steady and they have a lot of ardent fans in the UK as well as in the rest of Europe. The new album debuted in the US Billboard top twenty and they could be forgiven for upping the game to take in the Forum or Hammersmith Apollo type venues but, according to guitarist Kyle Shutt, they play the clubs to keep in touch with their people. Their people were out in force and there wasn’t a gap to mosh in on the packed floor.

The new album is simply awesome with new drummer ‘Jimmy’ Vela fitting in perfectly and giving the band a whole new set of abilities. What amazed me was just how well he fits in on their older material – the set included tracks from the ‘Warp Riders’ album as well as ‘Gods Of The Earth’ and ‘Age of Winters’ – bringing them into the new sound without sounding any less than ‘right now’.

The twin guitar lead of Shutt and J.D. Cronise gives the band real power, especially live, as well as a variety of sounds that most bands don’t manage and the crowd were treated to some real power metal as well as some great solos. The crowd, in turn, cheered every number and there was some serious getting down in the pit.

I am not going to pick out any numbers as favourites but this incarnation did a brilliant version of ‘How Heavy This Axe’ and ‘Tres Brujas’ worked even better as a live number than as part of the ‘Warp Riders’ album.

Hell of a way to start 2013!

1. Veil of Isis
2. Freya
3. Hammer of Heaven
4. Tres Brujas
5. How Heavy This Axe
6. Cloak of Feathers
7. Arcane Montane
8. Dying Earth
9. Maiden, Mother & Crone
10. To Take the Black
11. Seven Sisters
12. Lawless Lands
Encore:
13. Ebethron
14. Apocryphon

Anthrax covers AC/DC for 'Anthems'

Anthrax-covers-AC/DC-for-Anthems
Anthrax have covered eight rock classics including AC/DC's 'TNT' for their new 'Anthems' EP.

'Anthems' also features Anthrax covers of songs by Thin Lizzy, Cheap Trick, Boston, Rush and Journey.

'These are all bands I grew up with and have listened to forever. It's just great music,' Joey Belladonna said in a statement. 'I had fun singing these songs and I was happy recording together with Anthrax, doing classic rock songs. Fun stuff!'

Tracks on the EP include 'Jailbreak' by Thin Lizzy, 'Anthem' by Rush, 'Smokin' by Boston, 'Big Eyes' by Cheap Trick and 'Keep On Runnin' by Journey.

Drummer Charlie Benante says they are big Boston fans. 'If ever there were a perfect first album, it's Boston's first album,' he said. 'The harmony leads they did would later be heard by Iron Maiden, which of course would lead to thrash metal.'

'Anthems' was recorded all over the world during the Anthrax world tour and at Benante's home in New York.

Anthrax will tour Australia for Soundwave with fill-in guitarist Jon Donais of Shadows Fall following the departure of Rob Gaggiano.

Nuclear Blast will release the Anthems EP in March.

Metallica 3D movie update

Metallica 3D movie update

Metallica-3D-movie-update
Last year, Metallica announced that they would be putting out a 3D concert film and the footage was shot in August during shows in Vancouver. Since that time, little has been said about the movie.

On Tuesday, the band updated their website with a report on where production stood and the title of the film, Metallica Through the Never.

M3D

January 15, 2013

We're back with an update on that little project we told you about last year. the Metallica 3D movie filmed in Vancouver in August of 2012. Some of you were kind enough to be a huge part of our three nights of filming and may be wondering just what the heck has been happening since then. Throughout the Fall and first part of this year, we've been working with director Nimród Antal and a team of editors to pull all the pieces together and so we are beyond excited to now actually have a release date and a title. drum-roll please, 'Metallica Through The Never' coming to theatres on August 9!

We're also proud to announce that we will be teaming up with independent film marketing and distribution company Picturehouse to help us spread the love in theatres. Like your friends in 'Tallica, Picturehouse is truly independent, take big chances and often think outside of the box. Founder Bob Berney has overseen the releases of two of the most successful independent films ever, 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' and 'The Passion of the Christ,' while under his leadership Picturehouse acquired and released such acclaimed features as 'Pan's Labyrinth' (winner of three Academy Awards and 'La Vie en Rose' (winner of two Academy Awards, including best actress for Marion Cotillard) as well as many other cutting edge, critically acclaimed and award winning films.

It goes without saying that we are really just getting rolling here and will have many more updates for you. And of course, we can't wait for you to see the film!!

In fact, the film will be the first to be released by Picturehouse since they reopened their doors. In a separate press release, the company delved deeper into the film, showing that it is more than a straight concert film.

Picturehouse's first new release will be Metallica Through The Never a feature film starring members of the iconic rock band and Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, The Amazing Spider-Man 2). DeHaan plays a young band crew member who is sent out on an urgent mission while the band is playing a rousing live set in front of a sold-out crowd and unexpectedly finds his world turned completely upside down. The film, written and directed by Nimród Antal (Kontroll, Predators), is due in theaters August 9. One of the bestselling rock acts of all time, Metallica has sold over 105 million albums worldwide.

'Nim and the band have made a film that really captures the spirit of Metallica and their millions of loyal fans,' said Mr. Berney. 'It's an entertaining genre film with a concert inside it, a fun ride featuring an exciting young actor, Dane DeHaan. It's a very cool project to reboot Picturehouse with.'

Added Metallica drummer and founding member Lars Ulrich: 'Metallica's way of doing things is to jump into unexplored creative endeavors with no safety net whatsoever. Putting this movie together for the last couple of years has been a pretty wild ride, and we've definitely done our share of flying without a net! Bringing Bob and Jeanne and the new Picturehouse team in at this point provides us with a much needed level of security for the distribution of the film. Their spirit of independence and desire to work outside the box is something we can relate to in every way, and this makes them both a welcome addition and a natural fit in the Metallica family.'

Lady Gaga looks to buy Jackson's Neverland

Lady Gaga looks to buy Jackson's Neverland

Lady-Gaga-looks-to-buy-Jacksons-Neverland
Lady Gaga is said to be so 'obsessed' with Michael Jackson that she wants to purchase his private theme park.

The late King of Pop passed away from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009.

While Michael was living, he spent countless amounts of time at his Neverland Ranch home and amusement park in California.

Lady Gaga reportedly reveres Michael and would be elated to possess the late star's former abode.

'Lady Gaga is obsessed with Michael,' a source told British newspaper The Sun.

'She's become good friends with his sister LaToya and would love more than anything else to restore Neverland to its original state.

'His kids are all desperate to hold on to their childhood home so they can decide what they want to do with it properly when they've grown up.

'Gaga would love to help with the financial costs by buying a share.'

Spears' breakup no surprise to friends

Spears' breakup no surprise to friends

Spears-breakup-no-surprise-to-friends
Britney Spears' milieu reportedly weren't surprised at all when she announced her split from ex-fiancé Jason Trawick.
The 31-year-old pop star and the 41-year-old talent agent announced they were no longer a couple last Friday.
Jason asked Britney to marry him in December 2011.
It was apparent to loved ones from the outset of the pair's engagement that their romance wouldn't last.
'At a party to celebrate their engagement a year ago, Britney saw Jason talking to another woman and chucked her ring across the room,' a source told British newspaper The Sun.
'It took ages to find with half of the guests and staff on their hands and knees looking for it. Britney was insanely jealous and in the end Jason had enough of it.
'The pair never even really planned the wedding, which seemed odd. No one is too shocked he called it off.'
Jason has also resigned from being Britney's conservator. The singer, who remains under court-ordered conservatorship following a very public mental collapse in 2008, now has her father Jamie acting as her primary overseer.
It is said that Britney's relationship with Jason went sour because he became more of a parent than a lover.

Styles regrets Swift split

Styles regrets Swift split

Styles-regrets-Swift-split
Harry Styles is said to be feeling remorseful about breaking up with Taylor Swift.
The 18-year-old One Direction singer and the 23-year-old country music crooner ended their romance shortly after New Year's Day following a huge fight.
The pair had an intense two-month relationship and were seen vacationing with each other all over the world together.
Harry turns 19 next month and he just learned that Taylor was planning a surprise trip for two to Venice, Italy for them both.
If they were still together, he would have enjoyed five nights with Taylor at the lush Palazzina Grassi on the Grand Canal.
'Taylor organised an all-expenses-paid trip before the split. She even arranged a private gondola for them for the entire time they would be there,' a source told British newspaper The Sun.
'Harry is pretty gutted about the whole thing, even though he's putting on a cool front. He's touched she went to so much trouble to arrange his birthday ahead of time.'
The pair split while holidaying at the British Virgin Islands.

Don Broco to give away free download

Don Broco to give away free download

Don-Broco-to-give-away-free-download
After a massive impact last year with their debut album Priorities, Don Broco have announced their first offering of 2013 will be 'Fancy Dress,' which will be available exclusively as Google Play's first ever 'Single of the Week' on Jan 14th for one week (link -http://smarturl.it/DBGoogle). It will then be released as a free download to all via Soundcloud on Feb 4th.

Frontman Rob Damiani said 'I personally HATE fancy dress parties. They are way too much effort, and after about an hour most people have changed out of what they've come as, and everyone is too wasted to care anyway. This song's about the kind of parties that get a little out of control, leaving you feeling absolutely destroyed after all the fun is over.'

2013 looks set to be yet another busy one for Don Broco. Following on from the announcement of their first headline tour 'The Priorities Tour' in February/March '13, the band have so far sold out eight of these shows including the Underworld in Camden in 30 minutes. Kylie Minogue is 'hashtag' not quitting

Kylie Minogue is 'hashtag' not quitting

Kylie-Minogue-is-hashtag-not-quitting
Kylie Minogue has taken to Twitter following the news on the weekend that she was quitting music.

'#lovers #notquitting' she tweeted to her 1.6 million followers, putting an end to the tabloid stories on the weekend stating she was quitting music to concentrate in a movie career.

On Saturday, the news broke that Kylie had split with Terry Blamey, her manager of 25 years.

The Mirror UK wrote into that a Kylie's father Ron Minogue, who manages her accounts, had a fall-out with Blamey but that in itself didn't make sense after that long time.

The Mirror also concluded that a split with Terry meant a split with music for Kylie who they said wanted to pursue a movie career. Kylie has always had a movie career but mostly in a supporting actress role.

Where the Kylie career has really worked in the past decade is as a live act. She is a big money ticket playing sold-out tours across Europe and Australia. To give that away would be giving away her biggest income.

If the 'quitting music' story was true it would also have meant that she had aborted her next album. Work was already on the way for a new Kylie album for 2013.

What it all comes down to is that a man in his late 60s who had a very successful career as a manager for the past 25 years and built Kylie into one of the greatest stars on the planet has decided to take a break.

There is nothing more to read into that actually.

Nobody is quite sure what this short, animated video is for, but what we do know is that it contains a stripped down version of the song Heart of the Country from the album Ram by Paul and Linda McCartney.

The forty second clip was uploaded to a new YouTube account called 'Linda McCartney.'

While there is no indication of the purpose for the clip, people have commented that it is part of an ad for Linda McCartney Foods and the version was recorded in 2012 with Mark Ronson producing.

HMV calls in administrators

HMV calls in administrators

HMV-calls-in-administrators
UK retail institution HMV will close its doors. Administrators have been called in to shut 240 stores effecting 4000 employees.

HMV started in London in 1921 but its origins goes back to the late 1890 with the invention of the gramophone. In 1902, the first record company The Gramophone Company was founded. The Gramophone Company started HMV with that first store in Oxford St, London in 1921.

In 1931 The Gramophone Company merged with Electric and Musical Industries Limited and took on the shortened version of that name to become EMI.

In the 60s the retail company went into a period of rapid expansion and doubled in size over a six-year period to become the UK's largest music retailer. By the 1990s, there were over 300 stores across the UK and Ireland.

EMI sold off HMV in 1998 and in 2002 the company floated on the London Stock Exchange. The company expanded further and now had stores across North America, Asia and Australia. The first Australian store was opened in 1989 in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta. In 2005, Sanity took over the Australian operation but started to close stores in 2007. The flagship Pitt Street Mall store in Sydney was the first to go. To last store to close was the Brisbane store in 2010.

HMV UK will go into administration at the opening of business today after being refused the £300 million business loan it needed to stay afloat.

Dave Navarro gets gory for new PETA ad

Dave Navarro gets gory for new PETA ad

Dave-Navarro-gets-gory-for-new-PETA-ad
Dave Navarro is putting a face ' and a body ' to the hundreds of thousands of animals worldwide who are poisoned, blinded and killed every year in tests for the cosmetics industry.

In the edgy new PETA UK campaign, which was shot by top celebrity photographer Joseph Cultice, a nude Navarro appears bleeding from his eyes next to the words "Animal Testing Kills: Choose Cruelty-Free."

"They're not taking a bunny rabbit and putting mascara on it. They're injecting a chemical directly into its eye to see what kind of adverse reaction happens to it", Navarro stressed in an on-set PETA US interview. "In many cases, parts of their body are ripped open. They're all alive, and they're all aware. It's torture for the animal ' it's terrifying and painful and probably one of the cruellest things done in the name of vanity."

To test cosmetics, rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits and other animals are force-fed chemicals or have harsh substances dripped into their eyes or rubbed onto their raw, abraded skin ' even though the results of animal tests are not applicable to humans. Although these tests are required in China and some other countries, they have been banned in the EU and Israel and are not required in the US. Fortunately, many companies ' including Urban Decay, Paul Mitchell Systems, The Body Shop, and more ' are certified "cruelty free" under the internationally recognised Humane Cosmetics Standard and do not test their products or ingredients on animals.

This is Navarro's second ad campaign with PETA UK. He first posed in PETA's famous "Ink, Not Mink" series, in which he bared all but his tattoos to protest the cruel fur industry.

A broadcast-quality version of Navarro's PETA US interview is available on request. For more information about animal experiments, please visit PETA.org.uk.
