I Am Kloot to play Absolute Radio Movember gig
Absolute Radio is putting the music behind the Mo by staging an intimate gig with I Am Kloot at Barfly in Camden, London for a group of lucky competition winners participating in the moustache-growing men's health movement Movember.
Enigmatic Mancunians, I Am Kloot - John Bramwell, Peter Jobson and Andy Hargreaves' records are famed for being full of contradictions, brutal and charming, ruthless and endearing. Current single 'Hold Back the Night' was produced by Elbow's Guy Garvey and Craig Potter and appears on the album 'Let It All In' which will be released in January 2013. The band are on a UK-wide tour and are slotting in this exclusive Movember gig on Monday 26th of November before returning to London in February to play The Barbican.
This gig aims to reward the brave and selfless Mo Bros who are growing for Movember this year, and the patient Mo Sistas who have supported them every step of the way.
Absolute Radio DJs Andy Bush, Pete Donaldson, Christian Nash and Rock 'N' Roll Football's lead commentator Jim Proudfoot are taking part and growing a Mo to celebrate Movember.
They are supported by Absolute Radio's Sarah Champion who has taken on 'Mo Sista' status as a woman who loves a Mo, helping her male colleagues through their moustache-growing journey and sharing her personal family story of her father who had prostate cancer.
Absolute Radio is also donating an on-air campaign to Movember, supported by an online hub at www.absoluteradio.co.uk to drive awareness and mobilise Absolute Radio listeners to take part in Movember and raise money by 'Growing a Mo' and join the Absolute Radio Movember network.
Fundraising incentives include the opportunity to win a number of signed Marshall Pure Evoke 1S DAB Radios from some of music's elite, including Noel Gallagher, Elbow, Plan B, Muse and Mumford & Sons will also be on offer to listeners participating in Movember.
All money raised in the UK is directed to programmes run by Movember and their men's health partners Prostate Cancer UK and The Institute of Cancer Research. In 2011, 854,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas raised over £79.3 million globally and over £22 million in the UK and since its humble beginnings in Melbourne Australia in 2003, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement with campaigns in 21 countries in 2012.
