Andrew W.K. 'not the best choice' for cultural ambassador

Self proclaimed party-man Andrew W.K. has been told he was probably not the best choice for the role of cultural ambassador to the Middle East.

The singer had a trip planned to Bahrain next month to speak about the positive power of partying and how it can help bring about world peace but was cancelled by the US department of state who have decided that their funds could be better spent elsewhere.

The announcement was made at a press conference hosted by the spokesperson for the US Department of State, Victoria Nuland. In that conference Nuland said: 'we had a Bahraini entity that approached the embassy about co-sponsoring a visit by this guy, who I take it is pretty popular there in Bahrain. That was initially approved, and then when more senior management at the embassy took a look at this, the conclusion was that this was not an appropriate use of U.S. government funds.'

'I think the conclusion was when they looked at the body of his work that we didn't need to be part of this invitation,' she added. 'He is not going to be going to Bahrain on the US government's dime.'

The tiny Middle Eastern nation is currently experiencing its second year of religious-based turmoil. The country's Shia majority is opposed to the Sunni monarchy.

The trip was supposed to see W.K. visit elementary schools, the University of Bahrain and music venues 'all while promoting partying and world peace'.

Looks like The Middle East is doomed to many more decades of chaos without Andrew W.K. there to tell them to 'party 'till you puke'.
