Stevie Wonder cancels Israeli gig
Stevie Wonder has pulled out of a fundraiser for the Israeli military this week on a United Nations recommendation.
Wonder was to perform for the Friends of the Israel Defence Forces next Thursday (December 6, 2012). Money raises was to go to Israeli soldier and their families.
In a statement explaining his withdrawal Wonder said, 'Given the current and very delicate situation in the Middle East, and with a heart that has always cried out for world unity, I will not be performing at the FIDF Gala.'
He added, 'I am and have always been against war, any war, anywhere'.
Wonder is also the United Nations Messenger of Peace.
