Rolf Harris honoured and announces rare London date


Rolf Harris who was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia in Her Majesty's Birthday Honours list this year attends the Australian High Commission this afternoon for his investiture.

The award, one of Australia's highest honours, is presented by John Dauth AO LVO, the Australian High Commissioner, to Rolf for his distinguished service to the performing and visual arts, to charitable organisations and to international relations through the promotion of Australian culture. 

Collecting the award, Rolf Harris said: "I am thrilled to be receiving the AO today at the Australian High Commission. It is a huge honour."

Also today, it was announced that Rolf will be making a rare stage appearance performing at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, on Friday 8 February 2013.

The legendary Aussie who in 2010 made his sixth appearance at the Glastonbury Festival before a record breaking 130,000 people will appear for one night only at Southbank Centre. 

On the announcement that he will be appearing at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall Rolf said: "This will be the first time I will be playing a solo performance at the Royal Festival Hall. Previously, I have been one item as part of a show. I'm really looking forward to it, I just love the feeling of the place - it's purpose built and a wonderful venue."

He continues to delight several generations, from those who grew up watching him from his early days on television to the crowds of young and old alike cheering him on at Glastonbury ' where he was voted 'most popular entertainer'.
