Power Of Love odds slashed for festive top spot
After announcing on Thursday that she would be singing The Power Of Love for the John Lewis Christmas single, William Hill offered odds of 25/1 that Gabrielle Aplin would score the Christmas Number One single.
A rush of bets on the Somerset songstress has seen her come in to 14/1 in the last 24 hours and she sits in fourth in the betting behind the Hillsborough Charity single (4/6), X-Factor (11/8) and One Direction (8/1).
'The last two years have seen massive gambles on the John Lewis singles and this year's punt appears to have started in earnest already,' said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. 'With six weeks to go, the race for the festive top slot has begun!'
