Matthew Morrison: I''ll be new Bublé

Matthew Morrison: I''ll be new Bublé

Matthew Morrison wants to be like "Michael Bublé mixed with Gene Kelly".
The Glee star has explained what fans can expect from his all-singing all-dancing tour around America''s "symphony circuit" theatres.
The actor plays teacher Will Schuester in the popular singing TV drama and is looking forward to filling out the 2,000 seat theatres he is visiting.
"I''m trying to do something different by incorporating dance," Matthew explained to fashion website Mr Porter. "I''ll sing for a bit then there''ll be an instrumental break and I''ll just bust out a whole dance. I want to be like Michael Bublé mixed with Gene Kelly."
As well as his stage show, Matthew has a new album out in February next year. This will be his second release, which is part of his plan to make a name for himself in the music industry.
"[The workload I''ve chosen has] forced my hand, [into carving out a career as a recording artist]," Matthew explained.
Glee is currently in its fourth series and while Matthew believes he is one of the most convincing characters in the show, he resents that the filming schedule stops him pursuing his other TV ambitions.
"We shoot more than ten months of the year, so I don''t have time to do a proper show," Matthew explained.
"[I''m more] instinctual [than your average cast member]. I lead with my d**k. Sometimes you see a guy up there [in Glee] and you think, ''I don''t believe it, I don''t think that guy wants to have sex with that woman.''"

Whitney Houston and Elton John are among artists whose recordings have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Whitney and Elton have been honoured for their respective 1985 and 1970 self-titled albums.
The posthumous honour for Whitney comes nine months after her death at the age of 48.
The Grammy Hall of Fame collection recognises singles and album recordings from all genres. Recordings must be at least 25 years old and 'exhibit qualitative or historical significance'.
Paul McCartney and Wings (Band on the Run), Billy Joel (Piano Man), Ray Charles (Hit the Road Jack), Frank Sinatra (New York, New York), Bob Dylan (The Times They Are A-Changin) and James Brown (I Got You (I Feel Good)) are among the 27 new titles for 2013.
The list of honourees are on display at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. With the new additions the list total is at 933.
"With the Grammy Hall Of Fame celebrating 40 years, it's especially important to note that these entries continue the tradition of inducting a wide variety of recordings that have inspired and influenced both fans and music makers for generations," Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy, said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
"Memorable for being both culturally and historically significant, we are proud to add them to our growing catalog of outstanding recordings that have become part of our musical, social, and cultural history,' he added.

LeAnn Rimes' husband 'can't take the drama'

LeAnn Rimes' husband 'can't take the drama'

LeAnn Rimes' husband Eddie Cibrian has reportedly had enough of her personal 'chaos.'
The 30-year-old singer admitted herself into rehab in August to seek treatment for anxiety and stress.
In the same month, LeAnn sued two women, a teacher and her daughter, for allegedly bullying her.
She was also hospitalised in October for a 'massive infection'.
Eddie is fed up with what seems like an interminable series of crises.
'[It's] chaos. It never seems to end," a source told the US edition of OK! magazine. "He can't take all of the drama anymore. He told her he needs some time alone to get his head together."
Eddie's TV show The Playboy Club was cancelled after one season.
Apparently the actor is financially dependent on LeAnn.
"LeAnn is the breadwinner and he's not about to destroy that gravy train," the insider said.
"But he's checked out emotionally."
LeAnn cheated on her former husband Dean Sheremet with Eddie.
Eddie was also married to Brandi Glanville at the beginning of his relationship with LeAnn.
LeAnn and Eddie married in 2011.

Steven Tyler: Sports anthem is a dream come true

Steven Tyler: Sports anthem is a dream come true

Steven Tyler's band Aerosmith 'nailed' their sports anthem.
The famous rock group was invited by the American National Football League to pen a song for the New England Patriots team.
To frontman Steven's surprise, Aerosmith's tune Legendary Child ' Patriots Anthem came together very easily.
"Legendary Child was a little ditty that didn't make it on some other album, and I didn't write lyrics that I liked yet," Steven told MTV News.
"A lot of of songs we've done are licks that we wrote on tour, and didn't put down on tape until we got to a studio years ago ... it's a song that's had several different incarnations, but we finally wrote it the way we liked it.
"The lick is so severe, what Joe [Perry] wrote was so nuts that, when the NFL asked me to write something, it was so ridiculous, it just worked. And the Patriots are our team; so I sat down with Joe and we wrote some pretty cool lyrics; we went down to the studio and we nailed it."

Florence + the Machine to set new Ricoh Arena record

Florence + the Machine to set new Ricoh Arena record

Florence + The Machine's concert at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry next month will set a new indoor record at the venue.

The award-winning band will be performing in front of a sell-out crowd of 12,000 in the Jaguar Hall ' smashing the previous best of 10,000 ' at the gig on Saturday, December 8.

Liz Cooper, marketing director at the Ricoh Arena, said the Jaguar Hall was one of few venues in the UK to have the capacity for 12,000 standing.

'When Bryan Adams played the first indoor concert when we opened seven years ago the capacity was 8,300 but we have been able to increase it to 12,000 by investing in a new entrance and adding additional exit routes,' she said.

'We are established as a key player when it comes to stadium bowl concerts, however, our 12,000 capacity gives us a great opportunity to secure more indoor high-profile concerts following on from our successful gigs including Scouting for Girls, Radio 1Xtra, Deadmau5, The Specials and The Enemy.
.
'All the 12,000 tickets for Florence + The Machine have been snapped up and it is going to be a cracking atmosphere in there.

'The Ricoh Arena is the only venue in the UK to have an indoor arena and stadium bowl for outdoor gigs on one site which is a fact we are very proud of.'

Fiona Apple pulls South American tour to be with dying pet dog

Fiona Apple pulls South American tour to be with dying pet dog

Fiona Apple has cancelled her upcoming South American tour to be with her beloved pet who is in the last stages of life.

Apple has talked many times before in interviews about Janet, a pit bull she had adopted years ago who had been abused by dogs used for fighting. Their attachment has been very close but, at age 14, the pet is starting to have problems with old age.

In a touching letter to her South American fans, Apple writes about the reason for the cancellation.

She writes:

It's 6pm on Friday, and I'm writing to a few thousand friends I have not met yet. I am writing to ask them to change our plans and meet a little while later. Here's the thing. I have a dog Janet, and she's been ill for almost two years now, as a tumor has been idling in her chest, growing ever so slowly. She's almost 14 years old now.I got her when she was 4 months old. I was 21 then, an adult officially - and she was my child.
She is a pitbull, and was found in Echo Park, with a rope around her neck, and bites all over her ears and face. She was the one the dogfighters use to puff up the confidence of the contenders. She's almost 14 and I've never seen her start a fight, or bite, or even growl, so I can understand why they chose her for that awful role. She's a pacifist.

Janet has been the most consistent relationship of my adult life, and that is just a fact. We've lived in numerous houses, and jumped a few make shift families, but it's always really been the two of us. She slept in bed with me, her head on the pillow, and she accepted my hysterical, tearful face into her chest, with her paws around me, every time I was heartbroken, or spirit-broken, or just lost, and as years went by, she let me take the role of her child, as I fell asleep, with her chin resting above my head. She was under the piano when I wrote songs, barked any time I tried to record anything, and she was in the studio with me all the time we recorded the last album. The last time I came back from tour, she was spry as ever, and she's used to me being gone for a few weeks every 6 or 7 years.

She has Addison's Disease, which makes it dangerous for her to travel since she needs regular injections of Cortisol, because she reacts to stress and to excitement without the physiological tools which keep most of us from literally panicking to death.

Despite all of this, she's effortlessly joyful and playful, and only stopped acting like a puppy about 3 years ago. She's my best friend and my mother and my daughter, my benefactor, and she's the one who taught me what love is.

I can't come to South America. Not now.

When I got back from the last leg of the US tour, there was a big, big difference. She doesn't even want to go for walks anymore. I know that she's not sad about aging or dying. Animals have a survival instinct, but a sense of mortality and vanity, they do not. That's why they are so much more present than people. But I know that she is coming close to point where she will stop being a dog, and instead, be part of everything. She'll be in the wind, and in the soil, and the snow, and in me, wherever I go.

I just can't leave her now, please understand.

If I go away again, I'm afraid she'll die and I won't have the honor of singing her to sleep, of escorting her out. Sometimes it takes me 20 minutes to pick which socks to wear to bed. But this decision is instant. These are the choices we make, which define us.

I will not be the woman who puts her career ahead of love and friendship. I am the woman who stays home and bakes Tilapia for my dearest, oldest friend. And helps her be comfortable, and comforted, and safe, and important. Many of us these days, we dread the death of a loved one. It is the ugly truth of Life, that keeps us feeling terrified and alone. I wish we could also appreciate the time that lies right beside the end of time. I know that I will feel the most overwhelming knowledge of her, and of her life and of my love for her, in the last moments. I need to do my damnedest to be there for that. Because it will be the most beautiful, the most intense, the most enriching experience of life I've ever known. When she dies.

So I am staying home, and I am listening to her snore and wheeze, and reveling in the swampiest, most awful breath that ever emanated from an angel. And I am asking for your blessing.

I'll be seeing you.
Love, Fiona

Conor Maynard kicks off 'BT Infinity Presents' gigs

Conor Maynard kicks off 'BT Infinity Presents' gigs

Conor Maynard kicked off a series of 'BT Infinity Presents' gigs on Tuesday night infront of an intimate audience of ecstatic competition winners.

'Live from the 34th Floor" was simultaneously streamed in HD to thousands of youtube watchers around the world.

The interactive gig also allowed his fans, lovingly know as 'Maniacs', to get involved by tweeting questions and voting for their favourite cover version to be performed which, much to Conor's satisfaction, turned out to be 'Diamonds' by Rhianna.

The pop sensation played a striped back acoustic set which included 'Vegas Girl' and new single 'Turn Around' featuring Ne-Yo. Prior to playing the track he answered a spoof call from Ne-Yo asking "where are you man, I'm about to play our single?". Rolling his eyes he continued "he hung up!"

Enjoying his last day as a teenager Conor urged the audience to celebrate his birthday with him.

In jovial mood Conor answered tweets and joked with the global audience before impressing with his vocal range by launching into first single 'Can't Say No' and album opener 'Animal'.

Sailor Jerry Anthem footage celebrating 10 years

Sailor Jerry Anthem footage celebrating 10 years

To salute the last ten years of epic Sailor Jerry action, a short film has been created of never-seen-before archived footage from legendary Sailor Jerry Presents gigs, events and backyard barbecues over the years, all set to the iconic 1979 punk track Where Eagles Dare by The Misfits.

Like Sailor Jerry himself, The Misfits are independent spirits united in the fierce protection of their legacy. They have never before allowed their work to be used commercially, until now, testament to the band's shared ethos with Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins himself.

The exhilarating two-minute short film is an assault on the senses combining the past ten years of action-packed Sailor Jerry moments with historic WWII-era Honolulu material taken from the Hori Smoku documentary on the life and times of the legend himself, Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins.

Check it out below.

50 Cent: Starvation is pandemic

50 Cent is dismayed by the amount of people who 'don't actually have food.'
The rapper volunteered at the Our Table Is Yours event at Cipriani Restaurant in Manhattan on Wednesday.
The function sponsored by Feeding America, the Food Network and SMS Audio fed unfortunate New Yorkers and Hurricane Sandy victims.
50 Cent is dedicated to eliminating hunger.
"I'm able to provide meals for victims of Sandy or other people in New York City that don't actually have food," 50 told MTV News.
"[Hunger,] it's a world issue, it's not a third-world issue. One in six Americans are actually going hungry. You got kids that's surviving based on their school lunch and more than one out of five kids are experiencing hunger."
50 will spend Thanksgiving with family.
He is grateful that this isn't a potluck dinner.
"I don't cook. I'll go to my grandmother's house; it's always safe there to eat. You know the food is always decent," he said.
"Sometimes she'll allow my aunts and uncles to bring food there and I can tell when she didn't do it. It doesn't taste the same."
Portions of sales from 50's company SK Energy Drink supply the hungry with meals.

The rapper will greet the New Year with his new LP I Am Not A Human Being II.
Wayne has ambitious plans for 2013.
"February 19, that's the official date," he told Sway Calloway on MTV First.
"I'm gonna tour right after the album drops and I'm gonna tour all year round worldwide. [The opening lineup for the tour] never matters. [It's just] whoever wants to roll with me."
Wayne has taken his music in an unexpected direction on the forthcoming album.
The production on his beats is a bit more macabre throughout I Am Not A Human Being II.
"Juicy J beats are dark, and I never rapped on dark music like that," he explained.
"My music was always bright - music for the club or for the radio - this music here is for us to like and us to like only, and I never put music out like that. Maybe to everybody else they're probably like, 'Man, your music always been so crazy,' but to me, the music that's on this album is more so - like it or not."

Rihanna apparently feels no shame about purchasing these items in front of a large group of people.
She feels free to celebrate her sexual expression publicly.
'Even with 150 guests in tow, she doesn't care about flaunting that side of her life,' the source said.

Paul Liddell

Paul Liddell

Paul Liddell & Delphians - live

Paul Liddell's new album 'Paul Liddell and Delphians- live' is an incredible concoction of folk, blues and rock.

Paul Liddell has put his all into music. He currently plays an average of 20 gigs a month and has performed at numerous shows including the main stage at Beverley Folk Festival. On top of that he has sold over 3000 albums and EP's from live performance's alone.

The most striking attribute of Liddell is his dynamic musical abilities. The whole album is a mixture of live sampling and guitar percussion, topped with his inspirational voice. If the instrumental sections are not enticing enough then the stories told through the in depth lyrics will grab you by the mind. Each song has a mysterious way of provoking reflection and they easily become addictive.

Goodbye Mr. Green is the best song on the album and is an amazing story to listen to. The lyrics are once again extremely clever and the instruments provide the perfect platform for the story to be delivered with. Guitar melodies layer up to introduce the song and then the percussion falls on top shortly followed by stretching chords. Once the instruments have invited you in the vocals start and the song unfolds into an amazing and emotive story.

The whole album was recorded in a tiny venue above a pub to a lucky audience of only 80. This live element to the album adds something purely unique that makes the album even better. There is a wide range of styles shown in songs such as 'the fool' and 'dialling tone' that provide something for everyone. Check this youtube video out and see for yourself.

Alpines The Lexington

Alpines

The Lexington

Straight out of Kingston (Upon -on-Thames) comes dreamy 'night pop' project,

Alpines, and after a year that has seen them open the bill for Florence and the Machine and perform at UK festivals' alongside the likes of Dizzee RascalRoots Manuva and Alt-J, it's really nice to hear vocalist, Catherine Pockson’s genuine excitement as she tells the audience that this is Alpines’ first sold-out headline show.

The Lexington crowd, packed into the small confines of the pub's upstairs room - a venue that, despite its limited capacity, continues to attract the best in up and coming, as well as established acts – is treated to a set that, whilst short in length, is full in substance. From the juxtaposition of syncopated rhythms and ethereal vocals in opening track, ‘Cocoon’ to the metronomic, angular beats that lay the foundations of immediate standout, 'Chances', Alpines set the tone for a set that is, on the one hand, fresh, contemporary and innovative, whilst on the other, very familiar, particularly in the sense that it has a haunting 90's quality to it, of the ‘Blue Lines’, Massive Attack ilk - largely in the delivery of vocals, but also in occasional basslines and guitar licks provided by the other half of the duo, Bob Matthews.

Aside from one unfortunate deviation in tone during the set, where somehow an arpeggiated, overly-sentimental pop song crept on to the list, Alpines brim with gutsy songs and infectious energy, with the real highlight being latest single, 'Empires' - if that is the shape of what is to come then Alpines are heading for really big things in the not too distant future. The song, and Alpines’ sound in general is cool enough to keep the hipsters interested; loyal enough to an established sound to keep existing fans on board, and grand and accessible enough to hit a much wider mainstream audience.

If there were to be any real critique levelled at Alpines, it would be to assert themselves on the audience a little more. Tonight showed genuine potential for big things, but now they need to believe that they deserve it and let us know that they know it too!

The Waterboys release Spiddal reunion documentary

The Waterboys release Spiddal reunion documentary

In September, 2012, The Waterboys returned to the Irish village of Spiddal in the Gaeltacht of County Galway and performed at the Naechtains bar at the Park Lodge Hotel in Galway.

In 1988, The Waterboys recorded their classic 'Fisherman's Blues' album in Spiddal over a 6 month period. Mike Scott tells the story of the influence of Spiddal on his life in his recent book 'Adventures of a Waterboy'.

Despite the fun times in Spiddal in 1988 this September 2012 show was the first time Mike Scott, Steve Wickham and Anto Thistlewaite performed a formal concert.

Musicians at the Spiddal show included Charlie Lennon who played on the 'Fisherman's Blues' album and Eleanor Shanley was covered The Waterboys song 'Strange Boat' in 2008 to raise awareness of organ donation.

Johnny Marr reveals real name

Johnny Marr reveals real name

Johnny Marr has been talking to Xfm about his debut solo album The Messenger, which is out in February. and has explained that the songs were inspired by touring the country with The Cribs.

"I'd thought about it quite a lot when I was touring," he said. "Keeping my eyes open when I was on tour, getting to see a lot of cities and towns. It's to do with the connection between who I was as a teenager and how it's still the same growing up. But it's not a looking back record in any way."

He also revealed to Xfm's Gordon Smart that Johnny Marr was not his original birth name.

"The original spelling of my name was Maher. In school I was always called Ma-her and May-her, going to the doctors or whatever. So I just thought I'd make it easier for everybody when I was 14 or something. And also the drummer from the Buzzcocks is called Maher, so I didn't want to be confused with him.

"I was probably quite confident that I was going to make it in the music industry!"

Chris Martin: I don't buy Coldplay Christmas gifts

Chris Martin: I don't buy Coldplay Christmas gifts

Chris Martin says it's 'kind of sad' that he always forgets to buy his Coldplay bandmates Christmas presents.
The singer has performed with Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion since the '90s.
Despite their longstanding friendship, the 35-year-old admits he often forgets to buy them festive gifts.
'Will and Guy are very, very good and they always give us lovely presents and Jonny and I are not very good. It's kind of sad!' he laughed to Australian radio show hosts Kyle and Jackie O.
'It's hard to get presents for each other! But we do buy each other stuff, just not always for birthdays and Christmas. Like I might buy something for Guy tomorrow if I see something I think he'd like.'
The band is currently busy with their Mylo Xyloto tour, which started in Europe in October 2011 and will finish in Mexico in February 2013.
Chris says the band no longer has crazy nights out while away with work as they want to give their all during every performance.
'Some of us did all that [partying] in the old days. Everyone does things in moderation but the worst feeling in the world is going on stage and not feeling quite right,' he explained.
'That is so terrifying; then you suddenly realise how many people are there. And then you think, 'God that person's come from work, that person's saved up for six months to be here and that person should be at school tomorrow.''

Psy: MC Hammer collaboration was massive

Psy: MC Hammer collaboration was massive

Psy decided to collaborate with MC Hammer at the American Music Awards (AMAs) because he wanted to do 'something huge, very massive'.
The South Korean singer has sent the world into a spin with his catchy dance anthem Gangnam Style, which boasts a funky dance too. Psy was pumped to be invited to close the iconic music show in Los Angeles on Sunday evening and decided he needed to do something extra special to show his appreciation.
Part way through his rendition of the track, Psy shouted out 'Hammer Time', prompting the rapper to come on stage and launch into a mash-up of Gangnam Style and his track Too Legit to Quit.
'What I thought was, I've got to do more than Gangnam Style, so I thought about it. Something special, something huge, very massive,' Psy explained to Access Hollywood.
'I just got the word, MC Hammer, aww yeah.'
Hammer didn't think twice about teaming up with the pop newcomer. He is in awe of how successful Psy's track has been all over the world and believes the singer deserves a lot of praise.
'He's got the world dancing again. He's got the world on fire. I love what he's doing and I was a huge fan of his work. It's unbelievable the level that he has the world dancing. It's only happened like four times,' Hammer said. 'James Brown, Michael Jackson, Hammer time and Psy. Other people may have a record, but they don't have a dance.'
The two stars cemented their friendship after their performance by attending an after-party together. They went to a bash held by Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun, who signed Psy to his label.
According to New York Post, the pair gave another rendition of the galloping Gangnam Style dance at the gathering, which descended into a dance off at around 2.30am. One eager partier was so determined to show off her moves she didn't pay full attention to where she was dancing and ended up falling over.
Also in attendance were Usher, Justin, Ludacris, Carly Rae Jepsen and Jamie Foxx.
