Ozzy Osbourne Guitarist Gus G. Unveils Debut Solo Album Details

With Ozzy Osbourne otherwise occupied in a little band called Black Sabbath, his guitarist Gus G. has utilized the downtime to knock out his first solo album. ‘I Am the Fire’ is expected to drop in North America on March 18, with Europe receiving the disc a day earlier.

To help him fulfill the creation of his solo effort, Gus called upon a number of friends in the music industry. Devour the Day frontman Blake Allison will sing on the title track, which will serve as the lead single. The song is expected to arrive digitally on Feb. 25.

Other guests on the album include Megadeth‘s David Ellefson, A Perfect Circle‘s Jeff Friedl, Arch Enemy‘s Daniel Erlandsson, The Winery DogsBilly Sheehan, We Are the Fallen’s Marty O’Brien, Steel Panther‘s Michael Starr, Eyes Set to Kill‘s Alexia Rodriguez, Evergrey’s Tom S. Englund, Adler‘s Jacob Bunton, Jeff Scott Soto and Clandesmass’ Mats Levin. It’s Levin who serves as vocalist and stars in the video for the new song, ‘My Will Be Done’ (see the video above).

Gus says of the song and album, “I hope you all enjoy the first taste of things to come. ‘My Will Be Done’ is a cool rock track with a modern edge to it … Looking back, I can’t believe all the great musicians that got on board for this album. Everybody brought in their unmistakable style and talent and they really lifted the songs! Check it out and enjoy the music!”

In other Gus G. news, the guitarist will be attending the 2014 NAMM Convention, which takes place in Anaheim, Calif. Jan. 23-26. He’ll take part in signing sessions for ESP Guitars and Blackstar Amps and he’s also signed on to take part in the Randy Rhoads Remembered tribute concert at The Observatory in nearby Santa Ana, Calif. on Jan. 25.
